Di-ammonium Phosphate
Description
Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) is a widely used granular fertiliser providing both nitrogen and phosphorus to crops. It is valued for its high nutrient content and rapid solubility, making it suitable for a variety of agricultural applications.
Shipping and Storage
DAP is typically shipped in bags, bulk, or containers. It should be stored in a cool, dry, well-ventilated location protected from moisture and incompatible substances to prevent caking and chemical reactions.
Risk Management
DAP is generally safe to handle, but dust suppression and use of PPE such as gloves, goggles, and dust masks are recommended to minimize exposure. Clean up spills promptly to avoid slips and environmental contamination.
Dust
DAP dust can cause mild irritation to the eyes, skin, and respiratory tract. Prolonged or repeated exposure should be avoided; appropriate PPE should be used.
Explosion Risk
DAP dust is not highly combustible, but, as with fine fertilisers, it can form explosive mixtures with air in confined spaces if exposed to an ignition source. Good housekeeping and dust control are important.
