Canola (Meal)

Description

Canola meal is the protein-rich residue remaining after oil extraction from canola seeds. It is widely used as a nutritious animal feed ingredient for livestock and poultry.

Shipping and Storage

Canola meal is shipped in bulk or bags. Store in cool, dry, well-ventilated areas, protected from moisture and pests to prevent spoilage and caking.

Risk Management

Handling is generally low risk, but dust suppression and PPE such as dust masks and gloves are recommended to minimize respiratory and skin irritation, especially during bulk handling.

Dust

Dust from canola meal can cause mild irritation to the eyes, skin, and respiratory tract. Use adequate ventilation and PPE during handling and transfer.

Explosion Risk

Canola meal dust is combustible and may form explosive mixtures with air in confined spaces. Minimize dust accumulation and avoid ignition sources.
