Potassium Sulphate

Description

Potassium sulphate (also known as sulfate of potash) is a white, crystalline salt used primarily as a fertiliser, providing both potassium and sulfur, essential nutrients for plant growth. It is valued for its lack of chloride, making it suitable for crops sensitive to chloride ions.

Shipping and Storage

Potassium sulphate is typically shipped in bags, drums, or in bulk containers. It should be stored in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area, protected from moisture and sources of contamination. Packaging should remain sealed to prevent caking and degradation.

Risk Management

Handling risks are minimal, but as with all fertilisers, the use of PPE such as gloves and dust masks is recommended. Spillage should be cleaned up promptly to prevent slip hazards and environmental contamination.

Dust

Fine dust can irritate the eyes, skin, and respiratory tract. Prolonged exposure may exacerbate respiratory conditions. Workers should wear protective equipment and avoid generating dust clouds.
