Meal (Pellets)

Description

Meal pellets are compressed feed products made from ground grains, oilseeds, or byproducts, providing concentrated nutrition for livestock.

Shipping and Storage

Meal pellets are shipped in bulk or bags and should be stored in cool, dry, well-ventilated areas, away from moisture to prevent mold and caking. Sealed containers deter pests.

Risk Management

Handling is low risk, but dust suppression and the use of PPE such as dust masks and gloves are recommended when transferring or processing pellets in bulk to avoid irritation.

Dust

Dust from meal pellets can cause mild irritation to the eyes, skin, and respiratory tract. Adequate ventilation and PPE are recommended to minimize exposure.

Explosion Risk

Meal pellet dust is combustible and can form explosive mixtures with air in confined spaces if ignited. Maintain good housekeeping and avoid ignition sources.
