Gravel
Description
Gravel is a coarse, granular material consisting of rock fragments, commonly used in construction, road building, drainage, and landscaping.
Shipping and Storage
Gravel is shipped in bulk by truck or rail. Store in designated open or covered areas to prevent contamination and control dust. Ensure storage sites are well-drained to avoid waterlogging.
Risk Management
Gravel is very low risk to handle. Dust control may be necessary during loading or unloading. PPE such as gloves and safety glasses are recommended to prevent eye or hand injuries from sharp edges.
Dust
Gravel dust, if generated, can cause mild irritation to the eyes or respiratory tract. Prolonged exposure to fine dust should be avoided. Use dust masks and suppress dust as needed.
Explosion Risk
Gravel is not combustible and does not pose an explosion hazard. Fine dust should be controlled to maintain visibility and prevent minor respiratory irritation.
