Grain

Description

Grains refer to harvested seeds of cereal crops such as wheat, barley, oats, and rye, commonly used for food, feed, and industrial applications.

Shipping and Storage

Grains are transported in bulk, bags, or containers. Store in cool, dry, well-ventilated areas, protected from pests, moisture, and contamination to preserve quality.

Risk Management

Handling grains is low risk but may generate dust; dust suppression and PPE such as dust masks and gloves are recommended during transfer and processing.

Dust

Grain dust can cause mild irritation and, in some cases, allergic reactions. Prolonged exposure should be minimized; use adequate dust suppression and PPE.

Explosion Risk

Grain dust is highly combustible and can form explosive mixtures in confined spaces. Good dust control and housekeeping are critical.
