Rape Seed (Rapeseed Meal)

Description

Rapeseed meal is the protein-rich byproduct remaining after oil extraction from rapeseeds. It is widely used as an animal feed ingredient due to its high protein and fiber content.

Shipping and Storage

Rapeseed meal is shipped in bulk or bags and should be stored in cool, dry, well-ventilated areas, protected from moisture and pests to prevent spoilage.

Risk Management

Handling is generally safe, but dust suppression and PPE such as dust masks and gloves are recommended to prevent respiratory and skin irritation during bulk handling.

Dust

Dust from rapeseed meal can cause mild irritation to the eyes, skin, and respiratory tract. Prolonged or repeated exposure should be avoided; adequate ventilation and PPE are recommended.

Explosion Risk

Rapeseed meal dust is combustible and may form explosive mixtures with air in confined spaces. Minimize dust buildup and avoid ignition sources.
