Dried Distillers Grain (DDG)

Description

Dried distillers grain (DDG) is a nutrient-rich byproduct of ethanol production from grains, widely used as livestock feed for its protein and fiber content.

Shipping and Storage

DDG is shipped in bulk or bags. Store in cool, dry, well-ventilated areas, protected from moisture to prevent mold and spoilage.

Risk Management

Handling is generally low risk, but dust suppression and PPE such as dust masks and gloves are recommended during bulk transfer and storage.

Dust

DDG dust can cause mild irritation to the eyes, skin, and respiratory system. Prolonged exposure should be minimized; use dust control and appropriate PPE.

Explosion Risk

DDG dust is combustible and can form explosive mixtures with air in confined spaces. Ensure good housekeeping and avoid ignition sources.
